$450,000 partnership will support screen-based creators and talent over the next three years

Toronto, September 12, 2022 – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is pleased to announce a $450,000 grant from RBC Emerging Artists through the RBC Foundation to support the next generation of Canadian creators and filmmaking talent over the next three years. The announcement was made at CFC’s HOMECOMING event on September 11, 2022, where a number of CFC alumni, residents, and other screen-based creators, entrepreneurs and industry members were present.

“At RBC, we believe in the power of creative ideas that convey meaningful stories on screen,” said Mark Beckles, Vice-President, Social Impact and Innovation, RBC. “We are proud to continue our support of the Canadian Film Centre, and help amplify new, diverse voices to audiences across Canada.”

The grant will provide emerging Canadian creators in CFC’s acclaimed Norman Jewison Film Program and Actors Conservatory with much-needed support to launch and accelerate their professional careers in the screen-based industry, including skills training and networking. Additionally, it will provide CFC’s network of more than 1,900 alumni with access to a series of curated forums, such as masterclasses and panels, to enhance networking and career opportunities.

“RBC and the RBC Foundation are longstanding partners of the CFC and champion of emerging artists, and we are deeply grateful for their continued support,” shared E.J. Alon, Executive Lead, Creative Impact & Revenue, CFC. “Their investment in the CFC through RBC Emerging Artists is a direct investment in the next generation of storytellers. This grant will help us connect more stories to screens in Canada and beyond as we continue shaping the future of Canadian storytelling.”

RBC is a proud supporter of the arts and film, and celebrates creative mediums that play an important role in building vibrant, prosperous communities. Since 2007, RBC Emerging Artists has invested $100 million to support over 28,000 artists and hundreds of organizations, helping creatives bridge the gap from emerging to established, and assisting organizations in tailoring opportunities to advance artists’ careers.
