The Norman Jewison Film Program, supported by Shaftesbury and AMC Networks, is CFC’s signature film program and is the only intensive, creative and collaborative program of its kind in Canada. It is an immersive five-month, full-time professional accelerated program comprised of four separate labs for writers, editors, producers and directors. This conservatory-like program is tailored to the specific needs of creators and is designed to inspire and empower Canadian filmmakers to become world-class storytellers. This program is a vital incubator for bold new voices, fresh new IP, and looks to elevate future industry leaders who will redefine how Canadian stories are told onscreen and experienced internationally.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
- Incubates exciting and notable screen storytellers from across Canada
- Hosts hundreds of workshops, meetings, masterclasses and case studies with renowned guests and/or mentors
- Develops and packages talent and original content for the marketplace
- Forges real and lasting industry partnerships
- Produces original IP across all platforms
- Seeds new companies
The program has accelerated the careers of a significant number of Canadian creators who can be found working in all areas of Canada’s film and television business from coast-to-coast.
TUITION & FEES
Tuition and bursary information for 2022 program labs is to be determined, and will be posted in advance of the application window.
Please note that there is a $100.00 application fee via PayPal for all applications to The Norman Jewison Film Program.

DIRECTORS' LAB
We celebrate and amplify a director’s original voice and perspective. We offer a deep dive into artistic expression and process, from development right through to delivery. We focus on strengthening a director’s technical, business and collaborative skills, across a number of projects, both on and off set.

PRODUCERS' LAB
We believe that producers are creative and business leaders. This program offers producers the tools and skills needed to bring important stories to the screen. Producers will exercise their creative and business acumen while they develop and workshop a number of projects and business strategies.

WRITERS' LAB
We champion writers with distinct voices who bring fresh perspectives to cinematic storytelling. We offer a deep dive into the writing and rewriting process, and tailored project mentorship to help sharpen a writer’s ability to write for the screen and meaningfully engage in the script-to-screen process.
