Job Title: Development & Events Intern – Sponsorship
Type: Contract

Hours of Work: 37.5 hrs/week
Compensation: $14.00/hour
Reports to: Events Manager and Director, Partnerships & Events

The Canadian Film Centre (CFC), celebrating 30 years, is a charitable cultural organization that supports, develops and accelerates the content, careers and companies of Canadian creative and entrepreneurial talent in the screen-based and digital industries. Its uniquely designed programs and initiatives span film, television, screen acting, screen composing and songwriting, and innovative work in the digital media and entertainment technology industries, all of which continue to push boundaries and generate world-class content, products and companies for the global marketplace.


Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the CFC Events Manager and the Director of Partnerships & Events, the Development and Events Intern’s duties and responsibilities include, but not are limited to:

Sponsorship:

  • Research and assess sponsorship needs
  • Create proposals to solicit potential sponsors (cash and DIK)
  • Draft corporate communications documents and liaise with sponsors
  • Draft contracts and invoices
  • Organize all admin documents
  • Liaise with Marketing department to ensure BBQ marketing material deliverables have been met

Provide departmental support to the Development & Events team, including:

  • Database entry
  • Managing guest lists for various events
  • Administrative support, filing, and taking meeting minutes
  • Sponsorship management support; researching new potential sponsors, proposals, invoicing
  • Compiling sponsorship reports post-event
  • Issuing tax receipts

Assist with CFC events:

  • CFC Annual Garden Party
  • CFC Annual BBQ Fundraiser
  • Monthly Circle of Supporters screenings (as necessary)
  • Set up for Programs Department events
  • Internal meetings, lunches etc.
  • External events

Other:

  • Attend all departmental meetings and events listed above
  • Front desk Reception duties as required
  • Other duties/events as required

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Fundraising and event planning experience
  • Related degree or diploma
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with attention to detail
  • Exceptional at multitasking, problem solving, meeting deadlines and working under pressure
  • Self-starter, highly organized and resourceful
  • Team player
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (or similar database)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat an asset
