CFC Appoints Four New Members to its Board of Directors
Toronto, September 28, 2017 – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to its Board of Directors, effective immediately: Eric Belcher, President & CEO, Cast & Crew Entertainment Services, LLC; Paul Bronfman, Chairman/CEO, Comweb Corp. and William F. White International Inc.; Patrick Cardarelli, Senior Director, Recovery & Resolution Planning, Royal Bank of Canada; and Don Carmody, Producer and President, Don Carmody Productions Inc.

Eric Belcher joined Cast & Crew Entertainment Services in 2004 as Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing. In 2012, Eric was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Cast & Crew, which provides technology-enabled payroll, accounting and production management products and services to the entertainment industry. During Eric’s leadership, Cast & Crew has completed three significant transactions: the sale of the company in 2015 to Silver Lake, the global leader in technology investing, from ZM Capital; the 2016 acquisition of industry leading screenwriting software, Final Draft; and the 2016 purchase of CAPS Payroll, which serves the commercial, music tour and live events industries. Cast & Crew currently operates 10 offices in North America, including offices in Toronto and Vancouver, where they are celebrating their 20th year of operation.
Paul Bronfman is the Chairman/CEO of Comweb Corp. and William F. White International Inc. He is also Chairman of Pinewood Toronto Studios Inc. Mr. Bronfman launched his entertainment career in the mid-1970s, working in the music business with hit bands including Supertramp and April Wine. By the late 1970s, he transitioned to the film and TV industry and went on to hold several positions at Astral Media over the next decade. In 1988, Mr. Bronfman founded Comweb Corp., which went on to build and manage Canada’s first Hollywood-style studio, North Shore Studios in Vancouver, in partnership with well-known writer/producer Stephen J. Cannell. North Shore Studios is the original home of the smash television series, The X-Files. In 1989, Comweb acquired William F. White International Inc. (Whites), Canada’s oldest and largest provider of professional motion picture, television, live event, digital media production equipment and technical expertise. Comweb also owns and operates Whites Location Equipment Supply Inc. (Whites LES), Canada’s only national provider of professional location services to the motion picture, television, commercial and special events industries.
Patrick Cardarelli is currently Senior Director, Recovery & Resolution Planning at the Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC” or the “Bank”). In this capacity, he is responsible for the development of the Bank’s strategy and overall approach to managing through a financial crisis or severe stress situation. Prior to assuming this role, Patrick held progressively senior positions at RBC in the areas of corporate governance, human resources, corporate strategy and marketing strategy. Patrick joined RBC from a career in Canadian and international law and higher education. Fluent in many languages, Patrick has collaborated on a variety of bilateral and multilateral international projects and managed policy and regulatory developments in the areas of international corporate law, corporate governance, risk management and the arts across various regions and jurisdictions. Patrick has been involved with the arts in Canada and abroad for many years in film (documentary and short film producer and legal advisor); arts education (Cardarelli Family Award in Art History, York University); and personal and professional philanthropy (RBC Foundation) in the areas of art, dance, film, music and art restitution.
Don Carmody (Producer) has been producing films and television for close to 40 years. His film credits currently number more than 100 projects, including the smash hits Porky’s and Porky’s II, the classic A Christmas Story, the Weekend At Bernie’s series, The Late Shift (nominated for seven Emmy Awards® and three CableACE Awards), and Chicago, which won six Academy Awards®, including Best Picture. Recently, Carmody produced his sixth blockbuster in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, as well as The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and Pompeii. Among his many awards, Carmody has won the Canadian Academy of Cinema & Television’s Golden Screen Award, which honors the highest grossing Canadian Feature Film, an unprecedented nine times. In 2013, Carmody established Don Carmody Television (DCTV), which is a division of Don Carmody Productions (DCP). Current DCTV projects include the Rogers-Netflix original series Between, Emmy®-nominated event miniseries The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe for Lifetime, ShadowHunters for ABC Family, and Tokyo Trials, a six-hour miniseries for Netflix.
