CFC Alumni Take Home Genie Award!

The 31st annual Genie Awards were handed out last night in Ottawa, and CFC alumni Lisa Jackson ('10), Lauren Grant ('06) & Lori Lozinski ('05) took home the Genie for Best Live Action Short Drama for their film Savage. Congratulations!

Savage is about a Cree woman who sings a haunting lullaby for the daughter she lost to the soul-sucking residential school system in the 1950s. An awesome reinvention of genre that uses heavy metal, zombies and hip-hop dance moves to communicate thought control, hunger and abuse.

The filmmaking team behind Savage currently have the short film Parkdale in production through the Short Dramatic Film Program.

Peter Stebbings ('09) received an Honourable Mention for the Claude Jutra Award for his film Defendor.
