All of us at the CFC were deeply saddened to learn of the unexpected passing of Reeyaz Habib.

Reeyaz was an alumnus of the 2021 Norman Jewison Film Program Writers Lab. He was a gifted storyteller and filmmaker who formed strong creative relationships while he was in the program. At the time of his passing, he was finishing up post-production on his first feature as writer/director on Fat Lady Sriracha. This is a great loss for the CFC and Canada’s creative community. Reeyaz will be deeply missed by so many. We send his family our deepest condolences, and we would like to also extend condolences to the many peers and collaborators who Reeyaz had worked with and impacted along the way.
