AWARDS
- Ten CFC alumni have been nominated for 2019 DGC Awards.
- Congratulations to current residents Ajuawak Kapashesit (CBC Actors Conservatory) and Amy Halloran (Bell Media Prime Time TV Program), the inaugural recipients of the Jay Switzer Comweb/William F. White Indigenous Creator Award.

FESTIVAL WATCH
- CFC alumni had a very successful showing at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, with 58 alumni who worked on 23 projects that screened at the festival. Alumni films continue to make their rounds on the fall festival circuit at the Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton and Whistler film festivals.
TELEVISION & WEB SERIES
- Production is underway on the new CBC original series The Trickster, co-created by Tony Elliott, executive produced by Jennifer Kawaja (Sienna Films), and featuring Joel Thomas Hynes as part of the cast.
- Danishka Esterhazy directed two episodes of the new series Vagrant Queen, which is set to premiere on SyFy in 2020.

- Production is underway on BEANS, directed by award-winning Mohawk filmmaker Tracey Deer, who co-wrote the script with alumna Meredith Vuchnich.
- Cameras are rolling on Running Home, which counts alumna Paula Devonshire as co-producer.
INDUSTRY NEWS
- Karen Chapman has been named one of four fellows selected for the 2020 HFPA Residency Program.
- Vincenzo Natali is lined up to open this year’s Sitges Pitchbox on October 4, 2019. Natali’s latest feature, In the Tall Grass, will debut on Netflix the same day.
- Cineplex Film Program alumna Natalie Urquhart has joined Wildling Pictures as director of development.
