MHBTY – “My Heels Are Better Than Yours”

Synopsis

MHBTY explores the potential of wearable technology and data analytics in the field of female high heeled footwear design. Supported by wearable technology, MHBTY can bridge the gap between health and beauty and enhance the wearability of bespoke luxury high heels in the future. The system consists of a pair of wearable high heels with five force sensitive film resistors and two web applications. The wearable high heels retrieve the wearer’s foot plantar pressure data and transmit such data wirelessly in real-time. One of the applications, created for shoe designers and researchers, also enables users to determined the appropriate heel height for the wearers to minimize the discomfort caused by wearing high heeled shoes.
