On April 18, 2024, the CFC hosted an industry showcase at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, which honoured the 2023/24 cohort of the CBC Actors Conservatory. 

The showcase began with a lively reception bringing together industry folks and CFC talent before heading into the theatre for a special screening of eight actors’ close ups, from our newest graduates. To kick off the screening, CFC’s Executive Director maxine bailey and Kathryn Emslie, CFC’s Executive Lead for Programs, Talent Development, and Content Creation honoured the actors by highlighting their remarkable 6-month journey through the immersive onscreen acting program at our Bayview campus. The speeches were concluded with CFC’s signature and symbolic gesture: the presentation of a personalized clapboards for each graduate, signifying their achievement in successfully completing the program, as well as their formal induction into the esteemed community of CFC alumni!

During the screening, each actor gave us a first look at their character close-ups, which showcased original content that displayed the creator’s individual talent, unique voice, and creative depth, offering a glimpse into their artistic vision and bold storytelling. Ryan Rosery, Sam Asante, Dorrett White, Gwenlyn Cumyn, Christine L. Nguyen, Rebekah Miskin, Ali A. Kazmi, and Milcania Diaz-Rojas gave the audience a genuine testament to the worth of their CFC journey by showcasing the significance of programs like the CBC Actors Conservatory, and how, with the right support and mentorship, artists can transcend barriers and redefine the future of storytelling.
