​Annotations in Conversation

Synopsis

Annotations in Conversation is the culmination of a year ­long investigation into the reading habits of young people, based on a study of 30 students. The project challenges object­ oriented approaches to the novel and its younger readers that are based in technologies that are rapidly changing­­ – ones which forecast a break in reading culture. Instead, the project forges new definitions of the novel and digital natives that focus on continuities in novel reading. In my study, I found that digital natives love to read novels, but sometimes struggle to share their reading experiences. Annotations in Conversation is a network of reflections designed to inspire discussion and introspection, empowering readers to stay immersed in the world of books.
