Toronto, June 15, 2022 – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is pleased to announce the 2022 cohort of the Norman Jewison Film Program, an immersive and professional intensive designed for mid-level Canadian creators to expand their skills, portfolio and creative/professional networks. Nineteen storytellers from across Canada have been selected to participate in this year’s cohort, which gets underway in Toronto on July 5, 2022 and runs until mid-December, alongside the recently announced residents of the 2022 summer cohort of the Bell Media Prime Time TV Program.
“We had a record number of submissions this year and had the pleasure of meeting with many exciting storytellers during the selection process. It is a wonderful reminder that Norman Jewison’s vision to invest in and champion our Canadian creators and their stories is as relevant today as ever,” shared Kathryn Emslie, Executive Lead, Programs. “Thank you to our committed selection committee members who helped us select these 19 talented storytellers; we are excited to welcome them to the CFC as part of their storytelling journey.”
Here are the participants of the 2022 Norman Jewison Film Program:
The Norman Jewison Film Program, renamed last year in honour of award-winning and internationally acclaimed filmmaker and CFC founder Norman Jewison, is CFC’s longest running and signature program. The program offers four distinct labs for directors, producers, writers and editors, tailored to the specific needs of creators each year and is ever-evolving to meet the needs of a changing industry. Throughout the program, these filmmakers will develop their narrative storytelling skills, expand their professional and creative networks, receive one-on-one mentorship, collaborate on a number of professional exercises and productions, and generate original IP. The Norman Jewison Film Program is supported by Telefilm Canada and the Paul Bronfman Family Foundation.
