2010/2011 PARTICIPANTS:

KATE CORBETT

Newfoundlander Kate Corbett is a recent graduate from the prestigious theatre performance program at Ryerson University.  Upon her graduation, Kate landed the lead role on Family Biz, a comedy series for YTV and France 2.  Kate has demonstrated an array of talent, with lead roles in both comedy and dramatic presentations on stage; including her most recent performance in the Tarragon Theatre/RCA production of Des Walsh's Rocking the Cradle. Kate also starred in the award-winning CFC Short Dramatic Film HOW EUNICE GOT HER BABY.

ELI GOREE

Eli Goree made his television debut at age six, in the Canadian production of Sesame Street. As a teenager, he hosted The Big Black Rap Show on CKDU 97.5 FM in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was the host of CBC’s final season of StreetCents.

On stage, Eli played the lead role of Jakes in Darren Anthony’s critically acclaimed play, Secrets of a Black Boy.

A Gemini and Young Artist Award nominee, Eli played leads in the television series Soul, 'Da Kink In My Hair and most recently, the Showcase series Pure Pwnage.

KEVIN MACDONALD

Vancouver transplant and graduate of Studio 58, Kevin has spent the last decade working primarily in theatre. He has performed with companies ranging from The Playhouse, Rumble, NeWorld, Bard on the Beach, Arts Club, Alberta Theatre Centre and the National Arts Centre. Often involved in new work Kevin has participated in more than 50 workshops and readings.

Kevin was a member of the inaugural Soulpepper Academy; a two-year residency at the classical theatre company in Toronto.  Kevin has been nominated for Jessie Richardson Theatre Awards for his work as both an actor and a set designer.

He has appeared in the independent films READOGRAPH, TWO BROTHERS and THE WATER GAME and in the television series Cold Squad, The Mountain and UC: Undercover.

KEON MOHAJERI

Keon Mohajeri holds degrees from both McGill and Columbia Universities and has taken on over thirty roles, performing in New York off-Broadway, in Philadelphia and, most recently, in Toronto, where he has worked with some of its finest artists.
 
Film and Television appearances include Flashpoint; Ken Finkleman’s Good Dog; a recurring role in HBO Canada's Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, adapted from Vincent Lam’s Giller Prize winning novel; Maryam Keshavarz’s feature CIRCUMSTANCE that had its world premiere in US Dramatic Competition at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival – and won the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award; and the title role in the upcoming feature film KOOFI IN WONDERLAND.

ERIC MURDOCH

Originally from Montreal, Eric Murdoch is a classically trained actor who has worked extensively in New York and Los Angeles. Upon completing his MFA at the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Consortium, his first major role was in Our Town at the Trinity Repertory Company as George. Other credits include the Williamstown Theatre Festival’s production of The Autumn Garden with Allison Janney, Mother Courage alongside Meryl Streep and directed by George Wolfe at the New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park.

ZAINAB MUSA

Zainab Musa moved from her hometown of Winnipeg to Toronto to attend Ryerson University’s Theatre Performance program. The momentum of her training launched her acting career and select film credits include: GET RICH OR DIE TRYING directed by Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan, Doomstown for CTV, directed by Sudz Sutherland and Omni Televisions’ Metropia.

Zainab recently played Viola in the Canadian Stage production of Twelfth Night and appeared in the original workshop production of Andrew Moodie’s The Real McCoy at Factory Theatre in Toronto.

ALEX PAXTON-BEESLEY

A Toronto native, Alex is a graduate of George Brown Theatre School. 

She has performed with Theatre Aquarius, the Company Theatre and most recently the Canadian Stage Company/Citadel Theatre in the Canadian premiere of Tom Stoppard’s RockN’Roll. Her film and television credits include Being Erica, Republic of Doyle, Warehouse 13 and the feature film THE CONFESSOR.

HARMON WALSH

Harmon Walsh began his career at age twelve doing musicals with Stage Kids in Toronto. A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, Harmon has appeared on stage in New York and Toronto.  Off-Broadway productions include The American Dream directed by the playwright Edward Albee, The Real Thing and the Toronto production of The Beauty Queen of Leenan that garnered Harmon a THEA Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama.
 
Television credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent, a recurring role on As the World Turns and guest starring roles on The Border and Gossip Girl.
