Biography: |
A much sought after television producer Magee's recent credits include stints as an Executive Producer on comedy series Little Mosque on the Prairie and Smart Woman Survival Guide, and Creative Consultant on multiple seasons of Rent-a-Goalie, Billable Hours, Trailer Park Boys, Kenny vs. Spenny, Bliss, Kink, Paradise Falls, Show Me Yours, Naked Josh, Slings & Arrows, Moccasin Flats, and It’s Me…Gerald. He is president of Magee TV Inc. a television company dedicated to creating innovative new formats for international audiences in the genres of scripted, lifestyle and reality. Recent series as a creator, writer and producer include the Slice reality hit Superstar Hair Challenge, and lifestyle series, Everyday Exotic, So Chic, Partydish, Design Rivals, Fixing Dinner, Designer Guys and Love By Design. He was a producer on the feature film Sam & Me, and has story edited hundreds of features including Canadian indie hits Poor Boys' Game, Lucid, Summer Babe, Cube, Rude, Eclipse, Highway 61, Roadkill, and Blood & Donuts. Magee is a mentor with The Canadian Film Centre and consults to numerous international broadcasters. When not making television he spends his time crying over the ups and downs of the Toronto Maple Leafs and is a devoted hockey dad to his four young sons. |

Biography: |
Robert B. Carney established his distinguished career in television as a cameraman, editor and director of documentary and short films, following graduation from Yale University. Shortly thereafter, Carney began his writing career working on the CBC series The Great Detective. He has since written for many of Canada’s most popular and critically acclaimed series and has become one of the industry’s most celebrated writers and producers.
He wrote several episodes of Night Heat, the first Canadian-produced series to appear in primetime on a U.S. network. He later played a key role in creating and producing the newsroom drama E.N.G., for which he received four Gemini Awards; three as producer for Best Dramatic Series and one for Best Writing in a Dramatic Series. E.N.G. was sold to over 50 countries worldwide.
Carney has also written for the series Diamonds and Hot Shots, and wrote Cold Warriors, a two-hour pilot for NBC. He also produced ABC’s Ordeal in the Arctic, the highest-rated movie-of-the-week for 1993 in Canada.
Carney co-wrote Love and Murder, and wrote Deadly Appearances, the two-hour murder mysteries based on the best-selling novels by Gail Bowen; and he co-wrote and produced Murder Most Likely, starring Paul Gross and directed by Alex Chappel. He was an executive producer on Cold Squad, a one-hour drama series for CTV, starring Julie Stewart and Michael Hogan; produced Black Harbour, a one-hour drama series for CBC, featuring Geraint Wyn Davies and Rebecca Jenkins; and acted as co-executive producer on 26 episodes of Due South; a one-hour drama series for CTV, with Paul Gross and Callum Keith Rennie.
Carney was the executive producer of 26 episodes of The Zack Files, for Fox Kids Network and YTV. He was also the executive producer of Zixx a successful children’s series for Cartoon Network and YTV. Recently, Carney was the consulting producer for Mutant X, based on the Marvel Comic. (Syndicated).
Most recently, Bob Carney was executive producer of both 11 Cameras for CBC and The Murdoch Mysteries for BRAVO/CHUM as well as currently developing two series entitled 101 Ghosts for Decode Entertainment and Quant for Verité Films and CTV.
A native of West Virginia, Carney now resides just north of Toronto. |

Biography: |
In 2008, Jill Golick launched Story2Oh!, an experiment in web-based storytelling. Drawing on more than 25 years experience as a television writer, Jill is fusing character, story, interactivity, the internet and social networking to discover new ways of creating drama and entertaining audiences.
Over the last two and half decades, Golick has written for nearly every television genre, writing and story editing close to 200 hundred hours of produced TV. She was Executive Story Editor and Co-Head Writer on Omni’s night time serial Metropia for its entire run and Creative Producer on CTV's Instant Star in its third season. She served in the story room of Global’s gritty crime drama series Blue Murder for four seasons.
Before Blue Murder, Golick worked extensively as a writer of live action and animated children’s programs. Her long list of writing and story editing credits include Noddy, Wimzie’s House, Shining Time Station, Rotten Ralph, Sesame Park and Zaboomafoo. |

Biography: |
This is Marissa Richmond’s ninth season as Casting Director-in-Residence at the Canadian Film Centre. She is currently the Casting Director on the CBS/CTV series Flashpoint and recently finished the highly acclaimed TMN/Global Television series Durham County. Durham County is the most recent Back Alley Films production Marissa has the pleasure of working on; having also cast their anthology series of female erotica BLISS, the hip hop dramatic series DROP THE BEAT as well as the critically acclaimed award winning series STRAIGHT UP. Marissa also cast LOVE, SEX & EATING THE BONES, directed by Sudz Sutherland. Other highlights include the CFC's Feature Film Project’s SHOW ME, directed by Cassandra Nicolau and 19 MONTHS, directed by Randall Cole. She was also the casting director on the MOWs AFTER THE HARVEST, directed by Jeremy Podeswa, and LUCKY GIRL, directed by John Fawcett as well as. In addition she has cast a number of other films for television including SCORN, directed by Sturla Gunnarsson and MURDER MOST LIKELY, directed by Alex Chapple. Marissa also did the original casting on the CBC series TOM STONE, the espionage mini-series COVER ME, the internationally acclaimed series DUE SOUTH. |

Biography: |
Virginia Rankin is an independent producer and freelance story consultant.
Virginia is currently developing two one-hour drama series, Forensic Nurse (CTV) and Adam First (CBC) and two half-hour comedies Star*Suck (CanWest Global) and Sunny Day Friend (CanWest/Showcase) with Capri Films. She is also Co-Executive Producing an MOW, When Matt Became Jade, with Motel Pictures for CTV.
Virginia’s previous credits include the top rated and Gemini nominated Eight Days to Live (MOW) for Shaftesbury Films, CTV and Lifetime. In addition, Virginia was a creative producer on the drama series Regenesis (TMN/Movie Central) and numerous television movies, including the Murder 19c series for City/Bravo, Hemingway vs. Callaghan (CBC), In the Dark (TMN/Movie Central) and Sleep Murder (CTV) for Shaftesbury Films.
Prior to joining Shaftesbury, Virginia was Senior Production Executive at CTV, acting as Executive in Charge of Production on more than forty hours of prime time drama.
Virginia has a BFA in Film Production from NYU, and has also made several short films as a writer/director. She attended the Canadian Film Centre as a Director Resident in 1991 and as a Prime Time TV Writer in 1999. She has been nominated for four Geminis. |
