Canadian Film Centre Announces Changes to Board of Directors

Board sees eight incoming and 10 outgoing members as part of the organization’s Commitment to Change

Toronto, October 1, 2020 – The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) announced today at the organization’s Annual General Meeting the election of eight new directors to its Board, as well as news of 10 outgoing board members. The changes come as part of CFC’s Commitment to Change and Anti-Racism, in which the CFC committed to examining its recruitment practices for new board members, with a focus on more diverse representation.

“The CFC is committed to efforts around systemic change and anti-racism, and to advancing representation at all levels of the organization,” said Christina Jennings, Chair, CFC Board of Directors and CEO & Chairman, Shaftesbury. “While there is still much work to be done, the changes to the board accelerate a necessary shift as we move to make this a more inclusive company that better reflects the diverse voices of our industry.”

Effective immediately, the new additions to CFC’s Board of Directors are:

  • Dr. Shirley Cheechoo C.M., Chancellor, Brock University; Founder and Artistic Director, Weengushk Film Institute; Artist, Actor, Film Director

  • Tassie Cameron; Co-Founder, Cameron Pictures; Showrunner, Executive Producer
