We’re excited to tune in tonight for the series premiere of 21 Thunder, an eight-part gritty drama about an under-21 soccer team in Montreal. The series follows the players’ lives and aspirations on and off the field.

Several CFC alumni from the Cineplex Entertainment Film Program are involved. Alumnus Adrian Wills co-created and executive-produced the series, and he also directed some episodes. Charles Officer, fresh from winning Best Canadian Feature Documentary Award at Hot Docs for his and Lea Marin’s film, Unarmed Verses, also directed several episodes.

Other CFC alumni include series showrunner Malcolm MacRury, a Telefilm Canada Feature Comedy Exchange participant. Penning scenes in the writers’ room are Bell Media Prime Time TV Program alumna, Stephanie Tracey, and Katherine Collins, a Cineplex Entertainment Film Program Writers Lab alumna.

In front of the camera are three CBC Actors Conservatory alumni with presence, lead Emmanuel Kabongo, playing Junior Lolo, and both Kimberley-Anne Laferriere and Trevor Hayes.

21 Thunder represents an incredible team effort from alumni spanning several programs and talents at the CFC – don’t miss it!

Watch the series premiere on Monday, July 31 at 9/9:30NT on CBC.
