Our ongoing series profiles the movers and shakers in the Canadian and international screen-based industries. This month’s Sponsor Spotlight features Ramki Sankaranarayanan, founder and CEO of Prime Focus Technologies (PFT). Discover what makes PFT such an innovative technology service provider for the world of media and entertainment!
Responsible for pioneering an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that was tailor-made for Media & Entertainment (M&E) companies globally, Ramki Sankaranarayanan has more than 23 years’ experience in the IT industry and deploying technology in the M&E sector. Prior to starting PFT, he was CEO of Subex Technologies.
In 2007, when M&E enterprises began migrating from tape to digital, Sankaranarayanan saw a huge opportunity for software, and for developing people-enabled services. He incubated PFT in 2007 as a media-tech business, offering technology and digital media services to M&E industries worldwide.
Currently, Canada is one of the most promising markets for PFT. The hybrid Cloud-enabled Media ERP suite, CLEAR™, can help M&E enterprises in Canada enhance efficiencies, realize new monetization opportunities and lower the total cost of operations. Sankaranarayanan and PFT are excited to connect with more Canadians in the months to come.
As part of this move into Canada, PFT recently appointed Casper Mejer as Head of Business Development & Sales, Canada. With 20+ years’ experience in the M&E industry working with Cloud-based solutions and IT systems, Mejer has an extensive background in both server and streaming technologies. He is also a Certified Novell Engineer and Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert.
PFT recently partnered with CFC as a Gold sponsor for the CFC’s 24th Annual Gala & Auction, which took place earlier this year. Check out a recap of that fun, glamorous evening here. They are very much looking forward to a strong, long-lasting relationship with the CFC, supporting the organization and its signature fundraising events – an opportunity to give back to the Canadian film community and advance content security in the M&E industry.
