The nominations for the 2022 Canadian Screen Awards are out and we are so proud to see so many CFC alumni among the nominees.

This year, CFC alumni received 84 nominations across the film, TV and digital media categories. Select highlights include 11 nominations each – including Best Motion Picture – for alumni films Night Raiders, the dystopian thriller from director Danis Goulet (Open Immersion participant), and Toronto suburb story Scarborough, co-directed by alumnus Rich Williamson, as well as 6 nominations for two-spirit odyssey Wildhood, from director and alumnus Bretten Hannam, including achievement in directing. Alumni film All My Puny Sorrows, from producer Tyler Levine, also received an incredible 8 nominations, including achievement in editing for Orlee Buium.

Among the TV nominations, the debut season of CBC comedy Sort Of picked up 13 nominations, including three for CFC alumni, and female buddy cop series Pretty Hard Cases, created by alumnae Tassie Cameron and Sherry White, earned 11 nominations. Alumni of our Slaight Family Music Lab also scored multiple nominations across the music categories, including three nominations for original score and one for original song, as well as nods for original music, both fiction and non-fiction, in the television craft categories.

Congratulations to all our alumni and all of the Canadian creators who received nominations for this year’s CSAs. We look forward to celebrating you all during Canadian Screen Week, beginning April 4.
