In Memoriam: The Honourable Aileen Carroll

Posted: Apr 22, 2020

We are saddened by the news that The Honourable Aileen Carroll, former MP, MPP and city councillor for Barrie, passed away on April 19, 2020.

During her remarkable career, Carroll served the people of Barrie, Ontario and Canada, and was a good friend of the CFC while she served as Ontario’s Minister of Culture and as Minister responsible for Seniors under former Premier Dalton McGuinty from 2007 to 2010.

“We mourn the loss of Aileen Carroll and remember her friendship,” shared Slawko Klymkiw, CEO, CFC. “Her support for the CFC was steadfast. The legacy of her tenure as Ontario’s Minister of Culture is a robust and resilient screen production industry that is ready to flourish again [post COVID-19].”

Aileen will be deeply missed, but her legacy will be felt for years to come.
