Two new alumni projects were released on Netflix in time for spooky season – horror feature In the Tall Grass, from Vincenzo Natali, and post-apocalyptic comedy-drama series Daybreak, from Brad Peyton. The new Batwoman series, directed by Holly Dale, premiered this month and is getting lots of attention. - Three CFC alumni took home 2019 DGC Awards
- The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open (co-written and co-directed by Kathleen Hepburn and produced by Lori Lozinski) won the Best BC Film Award at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF)
- The film also picked up the Grand Prix in the National Competition – Features section from the Festival du nouveau cinema de Montreal
- imagineNATIVE named the film Best Dramatic Feature at the 20th annual festival
- Actors Conservatory alumnus Emmanuel Kabongo received a 2019 Trailblazer Award from the Reelworld Film Festival

- Heather Taylor’s script Black Mirror: A Beautiful Destination was a finalist in Austin Film Festival’s 2019 Script Competition for Drama Teleplay Spec
- Mina Shum is being recognized as the Honorary Director 2019 at the Female Eye Film Festival, and alumni projects Hopeless Romantic and Catch and Release are screening at the festival

- Production wrapped in early October on the upcoming feature film BEANS, from director/co-writer Tracey Deer and CFC alumna/co-writer Meredith Vuchnich, the 25th feature to be developed and financed for production with the support of CFC Features
- Harpoon, from director Rob Grant, made its rounds on the festival circuit (Rotterdam, Fantasia, Chattanooga, Calgary Underground, SITGES), and saw its theatrical release in Canada on October 11 and VOD on October 15
- Vincenzo Natali talks to the Globe and Mail about his latest feature, In the Tall Grass, an adaption of Stephen King and Joe Hill’s horror novel of the same name, which was released on Netflix on October 4
- Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY Releasing acquired the worldwide rights to alumni film The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open; Netflix acquired The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open for the U.S.
- Yung Chang’s This Is Not a Movie made the IDA Awards documentary feature shortlist (final winners will be announced on December 7)
