Jason James is an award winning producer/director based in Vancouver and Los Angeles. He most recently produced the indie feature written and directed by Cameron Labine (Ctl Alt Delete) MOUNTAIN MEN. The film stars Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) and Tyler Labine (Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil) and will premier at the Borsos Competition at the Whistler Film Festival. He also produced/directed the indie feature film THAT BURNING FEELING starring Paulo Costanzo (ROAD TRIP), John Cho (HAROLD & KUMAR/STAR TREK), and Tyler Labine. The film won Best First Canadian Feature at VIFF 2013 and will hit theatres early 2014 in the US and Canada.

Past projects include producing the acclaimed feature films REPEATERS (TIFF 2010), COLE (TIFF 2009), FATHERS & SONS (VIFF 2010), and UNNATURAL & ACCIDENTAL (TIFF 2006) as well as creating/producing the CBC comedy TV Series This Space For Rent. Jason has also associate produced on the acclaimed CBC TV Series Da Vinci’s Inquest (Seasons 4-7) and CTV’s Robson Arms (Season 3) as well as produced/directed a new media project for the History Television Series Ice Pilots and the W Network documentary MAKING WAVES.

Short format projects include directing a commercial for the David Suzuki Foundation and commercial ‘Bread’ – the 2nd place winner of the CFC Reel Challenge, music videos for rock bands The Smugglers and Mount Pleasant, and the award winning short films LIGHT RAPID TRANSIT (Clermont-Ferrand 2001) and THE ROCK SHIRT (Whistler 2012).

Jason has previously been invited to attend the Film Independent Producer’s Lab, Telefilm/CFC/ Just For Laughs Comedy Exchange, Toronto Film Festival Talent Lab, the Rotterdam Talent Lab, a CTV Fellowship at the Banff Television Festival, the National Screen Institute’s Totally Television Program, and The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television’s National Director Apprenticeship program.
