Adaline achieves near Judy Garland levels of melodrama in her moody pop compositions. It’s what she does best; elegant structures that happen to be wildly hooky. Her previous album “Modern Romantics” received critical praise by media outlets across the country. The Grid TO calls it “hook-y without being soulless, and patchwork in the most flattering sense. Think of this as pop, unpackaged”. The Uniter states, “A strong sophomore release from a crucial new voice” and CBC Radio 3 deems the album “A visionary classic from one of Canada’s best up and coming talents. A breathtaking in-depth journey of the imagination”. The album earned a nomination for “Pop Recording of the Year” at the Western Canadian Music Awards and the music video for the first single “The Noise” premiered on Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine online and aired in the top 20 on MuchMusic.
If you are television or movie fan it’s likely you’ve heard Adaline’s music. Her compositions have been featured on almost 60 TV shows and films including Grey's Anatomy, 90210, The Fosters, Rookie Blue, Lost Girl, Ringer, Killjoys, Flashpoint, Royal Pains and The Samaritan starring Samuel L. Jackson. She composed the musical score for the NBC Chiller short film “5 Stages of Fear: Mutilation“, and worked with Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene on the score for the Bret Easton Ellis written film, The Canyons, directed by Paul Schrader, starring Lindsay Lohan. She completed a composer residency at Norman Jewison’s Canadian Film Centre where she collaborated for 10 months with Canada’s up and coming film talent.
Her most recent success, a cover of Genesis’ “Follow You Follow Me” for Cineplex’s 2015 short film “Lily and the Snowman”, received over 30 million hits online and broke into the Top 50 Billboard Canada chart for 8 weeks. Adaline has been interviewed on ETalk, MuchMusic, and ET Canada and has shared the stage with Blonde Redhead, Wild Nothing, Dan Mangan, Ryan Guldemond (Mother Mother), and The Sheepdogs.
Adaline returns with her new album “Aquatic” - a hook infused collection of percussive cinematic pop songs. Written at sea lyrics explore the parallel nature of romance and water; they both sustain and destroy. First single and accompanying music video will be out this fall and stars Giacomo Gianniotti of Grey’s Anatomy.
