Biography
Cathy Chen is passionate about using design thinking and practice to empower socially and cognitively disadvantaged groups. She is a co-founder of DruMeBa Inc, an interactive media and social purpose business that develops systems and software that assist children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) with their communication and cognitive skills. While completing her Master of Design degree at OCAD University, she collaboratively created projects such as Note Float, a physical and collaborative musical platform for children, and eHive, a visual and musical communicative installation that displays the general mood of the people co-located in a shared space. Her thesis project was a system that utilizes community radio and SMS technology to encourage collaborative composition across distance among children in rural India.
