Job Description

Compensation: $14.00/hour

Hours of Work: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of CFC Events Manager & Director of Partnerships & Events, the Development & Events Intern - Volunteers duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Volunteer Recruiting & Management (GALA):

  • Supervise and manage a volunteer network (e.g., recruitment, screening, interview, placement, training, orientation retention and recognition)
  • Participate in the development and delivery of orientation and training programs for volunteers
  • Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment, publicity strategies and campaigns
  • Interview and recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for their position
  • Prepare all volunteer information and commitment forms
  • Create reports and update volunteer manual post-events

CFC Events:

  • CFC Annual Gala & Auction
  • Circle of Supporters screenings (when available)
  • Program Showcases and Events
  • Internal meetings, lunches etc.
  • Other external and internal events as required

Sponsorship:

  • Research potential sponsors
  • Create proposals (cash and DIK)
  • Draft Corporate Communication documents and liaise with sponsors
  • Draft contracts and invoices
  • Organize all administrative documents
  • Post event reporting
  • Liaise with Marketing Department

Provide departmental support to the Development and Events team including:

  • Database entry
  • Events guest lists
  • Administrative support, filing, and taking meeting minutes
  • Sponsorship management support, researching new potential sponsors, proposals, invoicing
  • Compilation of sponsorship reports post event
  • Tax receipts

Other duties:

  • Attend all departmental meetings and events listed above
  • Event support as required
  • Front desk reception duties as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Fundraising experience
  • Event planning experience
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with attention to detail
  • Exceptional at multitasking, problem solving, meeting deadlines and working under pressure
  • Must be organized, resourceful and motivated, with strong team-building skills

Assets:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (or similar database)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat an asset
