Job Description

The Canadian Film Centre (CFC) is a charitable cultural organization that supports, develops and accelerates the content, careers and companies of Canadian creative and entrepreneurial talent in the screen-based and digital industries. Its uniquely designed programs and initiatives span film, television, screen acting, screen composing and songwriting, and innovative work in the digital media and entertainment technology industries, all of which continue to push boundaries and generate world-class content, products and companies for the global marketplace.

Compensation: $14.00/hour

Hours of Work: 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (37.5 hours per week) with some additional evenings and weekends, depending on events 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the Director of Partnerships & Events, Events Manager, and the Coordinator, Development & Events the Development & Events Intern-Volunteers’ duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Volunteer Recruiting & Management (CFC Annual BBQ Fundraiser):

  • Supervise and manage a volunteer network (e.g., recruitment, screening, interview, placement, training, orientation retention and recognition)
  • Participate in the development and delivery of orientation and training programs for volunteers
  • Promote volunteering (internally and externally) through recruitment, publicity strategies and campaigns
  • Interview and recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriately matched and trained for a position
  • Prepare all volunteer information and commitment forms
  • Create reports and update volunteer manual post-events


Required Qualifications:

  • Volunteer management experience
  • Event planning experience
  • Excellent Writing and Editing skills with attention to detail 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Exceptional multitasking, problem solving, meeting deadlines and working under pressure
  • Organized, resourceful and motivated, with strong team building skills


  • Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce (or similar database) 
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop & Acrobat an asset
